Sam Stanton awarded Commanding Performance of the Week

“ATLANTA – After helping New Hampshire post a 2-1 mark on its season-opening California trip, Wildcats junior midfielder Sam Stanton earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 18.

Unranked UNH breezed to a win over No. 19 Cal Poly in the first game of the trip thanks to two goals, three assists and three ground balls from Stanton.

The Bedford, N.H., product followed that up with three goals and a dime in a victory over No. 13 UC Santa Barbara.

The Wildcats ran out of gas against No. 9 Concordia-Irvine, bowing 14-10, but Stanton still buried a goal and set up two others.

“Although Sam is known for his ability to score the big goal when we need it, this week also showcased his intelligence and decision-making skills, which makes him a multidimensional and complete player,” said UNH first-year coach Scott Eiseman. “We have a lot of respect for him.”

The tallest player in the MCLA at 6-foot-8, Stanton finished the week with six goals and six assists along with eight grounds balls.

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Stanton will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.”
